Welcome to the website of Joanna Brown; artist, activist, mathematician and publisher. When Joanna was given her first camera at the age of nine, she became instantly enamoured by photography. She continued to capture images throughout high school, her studies in Mathematics and her travels across the world as a research fellow and anti-poverty activist. Five cameras later, she is now focussing on her creative work. Alongside numerous photographic projects she is collaborating with the Ethiopian painter, Nebiyu Assefa and more recently has been exploring 3D digital surface design (the subject of her PhD). A visit to the Gutenberg museum triggered her interest printing and books; their form, content and power. This has led to the creation of her own books and the launch of Jozart Press. Last year, following a rich, challenging and inspirational two years in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds, she gained an MA in Fine Art . |
